  3. Effective Fundraising Tips in a Time of Pandemic

It has been almost two years since the advent of the COVID-19 virus, and yet lockdowns and health restrictions are still in place in most countries in the world. Each and every one of us is continuously challenged to adapt to our current circumstances. The shift to online activities has been one of the most notable changes we have seen throughout this pandemic.

Learning, shopping, banking, and even fundraising have been conducted online. Nonprofits have grappled with the constraints in raising funds brought about by the pandemic; and while many have found ways to overcome these challenges, the question of effectiveness and sustainability remains.

As we continue to operate on the digital screens, here are some effective tips that you can consider to power up your fundraising efforts.

  1. Be creative. Traverse limits.

As much as the lockdowns and health restrictions constrain us, technology and the Internet opened up a new realm of possibilities. Virtual galas, online fairs, and Zoom auctions are just a few examples of online fundraising activities that we have seen made possible by a few clicks and a reliable Internet connection. Fundraising does not also have to be limited to events. Nonprofits are highly encouraged to consider grant writing.

  1. Maintain good relationship with previous donors

Sustained contact with your existing donors can directly impact both the effectiveness and sustainability of your funding efforts. Investing in donor management platforms or software should be considered. Keep your donors informed and foster a sense of community with them.

  1. Get your message across

Donors must believe in your cause, and getting your message across effectively is crucial in that regard. Consider utilizing different promotional strategies. In this day and age, engaging with your audience is key. Be it through Instagram takeovers, GIFs on Facebook, or even the traditional email blast, the important thing is you emphasize the impact their donation would make.

  1.  Find your niche

With almost everyone—individuals, nonprofits, private companies, and government agencies alike—bringing their promotional efforts online, the Internet has undeniably become saturated. Consider what will make you stand out, and where. Promotional campaigns do not have to be limited to conventional social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. LinkedIn for Nonprofits, YouTube stories, and TikTok are great platforms you might want to maximize. Remember, however, to choose a platform that will help you successfully connect with your target audience.

  1. Show your gratitude

Recognize your donors, especially now amidst what we call the “donor fatigue.” You do not have to go out of your way to do this. By simply updating them, acknowledging their contributions, and sending thank you notes, you get to show your appreciation and at the same time, foster an enduring relationship with them.
