  3. How to Find a List of Philanthropists Who Help Individuals with a Grant?

In today's world, even basic commodities can be difficult to acquire for many individuals around the world. Because of that, many who have been experiencing such hardships find it difficult to believe that there are things which can come without cost. It is believed that grants given in kind will always need to have a catch or that something has to be given in return. Because of that, seldom are people fully interested in getting to know the benefits of applying for grants.

Little do they know that there are still numerous organizations who provide grants from things as simple as grocery needs and tax bills all the way to legal services, medical bills, and even educational expenses. A few of these philanthropic foundations are the following:

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Gates Foundation is one of the biggest in the world which greatly focus on health. Up to date, they have established health programs in over a hundred countries.  Diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria play great importance in the foundation as it has been given the most attention in the many years the foundation has been present. Apart from health issues, the foundation has decided to work on agriculture as well, specifically to end hunger for the farmers.

Children's Investment Fund Foundation

For those seeking grants relating to education, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) may be something to take a look at. Early childhood development is particularly important for CIFF as the early stages of life can be very crucial in the future of many underprivileged children. Child survival and the end of child hunger is also something they put emphasis on, as it is difficult to educate those who do not have enough nutrition in their bodies. CIFF is not one of the foundations who give tremendous amounts to many individuals and organizations. Rather, each year they only have about 15-20 projects to be able to concentrate more on the proper implementation.

Ford Foundation

For those who need legal advice, the Ford Foundation can be a venue to seek help from. Although it's not the only thing they focus on, over the years they have already aided several individuals who were helpless in getting legal advice. Given that social justice and human rights are just a few of their agendas, the likelihood of receiving legal aid from this particular foundation can be huge.

Center for Individual and Family Philanthropy

The Center for Individual and Family Philanthropy is a foundation that seeks to aid various cases of individuals and families who are in need. Unlike many foundations, this particular one is open to all those who they believe are in need, whatever their needs may be, as long as the foundation can help them with the resources they have. Don't be fooled though, because if you think getting a fund from this particular foundation would be easy, think again. This foundation is dedicated to giving aid to various families and individuals and would like to maximize the help they could provide for those deeply in need. Given that, they are very careful and selective in terms of the funds they provide, for whatever is needed.

Having many grants available may be seen positively but can also get confusing. The most important thing to do will be to know what to prioritize on. What exactly is it that you need? Applying for a grant you don't necessarily need as much as the rest may result in you returning empty-handed. Philanthropic foundations will not prioritize based on need alone, as they too look at your commitment and capabilities. As they offer funds for individuals, they are also keen on being able to help numerous more, and would not want anything to go to waste. Apart from analyzing what you need most, you should also learn to prove to the said foundations how an investment in you is beneficial.

Another important thing to remember is to have confidence. Searching the internet for various grants will not be enough, especially because some philanthropic foundations will not be found on the web. Contacting foundations who're also focused on your needs, apart from constantly checking the web, will increase the chances of getting a grant. Applying for a single grant will not be enough given the number of people who're just like you, are also in need of aid and support.

Although receiving a grant could be considered the goal in this process, it certainly isn't the end.  Philanthropists who give to individuals shouldn't be seen as Santa Claus or the tooth fairy who would simply hand cash in. These philanthropists have certain expectations that need to be met. Given the competitiveness of the system because of the millions who are currently in need, not meeting their standards can result in you being empty-headed. For example, if you have been approved of an educational grant, if you wish to have continuous support, a certain level of performance must be required. If not, there are many more who arere waiting to be given the opportunity you've been granted, so don't waste it. The same will go for those who have been given business grants. The best way to show appreciation for being provided a grant many are aspiring to get, apart from saying thank you, is to work hard and not waste the opportunity you've been given. Always keep in mind that you were chosen among many other individuals, might as well make the most out of the chance rather than being stuck in the same situation and seeking another grant.
