As modernization and urbanization introduce new developments and innovations, the booming economy of Asia particularly its Pacific region is projected to flourish even more—with the surge of technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) playing a pivotal role in its societal improvement.

Companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Facebook and Google paved way for the sudden growth of machine-learning technology particularly AI in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. With people across the region using wearable devices, chatbots and software suits, the growth of AI saw a drastic rise, from the emergent stage to intermediate stage.

“The appetite for artificial intelligence by Asian companies is continuing to grow. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is upon us, and companies that harness the predictive prowess of A.I. are well-placed to address challenges in this dynamic region.” Robert Wickham, Regional Vice President, Innovation & Digital Transformation, APAC Salesforce said.

In a survey report conducted by Salesforce, 77% of the respondents said that Asia viewed as the region leading in innovation while 81% of the respondents believe that Asia will lead this trend for the next five years. Among the countries surveyed, 93% of organizations in India, 88% in the Philippines, 88% in Singapore, and 82% in Malaysia are more likely to invest in technology to boost customer retention.

“This research shines a spotlight on the innovation landscape in Asia and reaffirms our vision for customer-centricity. The mobile-first culture of immediacy has its roots here in Asia and shapes the new business imperative for Asian companies,” Wickham stated.

Technology had played an essential role in the improvement of people’s lives across the globe. AI, the newest entry in the digital world, is opening new horizons for the next generation to come. Medical apps that diagnose illness and personal assistants such as Apple’s Siri, Google’s Assistant and Microsoft Cortana make up the perfect formula on how technology is slowly shaping Asia’s global advancement.
